Marcus Robinson Event

Held on the 68th floor with panoramic views of the city, including the Freedom Tower, this cocktail event for 400 guests honored director (and artist) Marcus Robinson, who received a BAFTA award for his work on the film. "Rebuilding the World Trade Center," which debuted on September 11 on History, is the result of Marcus' work filming the construction workers who helped build the Freedom Tower. The event was co-sponsored by Lion TV (who produced the film), A&E, and the Northern Ireland Tourism Bureau.

The Clipper Round the World Race - Derry-Londonderry

Main Event worked with the Derry-Londonderry Tourism Board to celebrate both their participation in the Clipper Round The World Yacht race, as well as being named the U.K.'s "City of Culture" for 2013. We located the perfect spot near the North Cove, where the clipper arrived in July- the Conrad Hotel, with its views of the Irish Hunger Memorial. Travel writers enjoyed a morning sail on the clipper, followed by a lunch and presentation. That evening, the group took over the Atrio Restaurant for a cocktail party featuring guests from Derry, including Damian McGinty (Glee) and Geraldine Hughes ("Rocky").

Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland head, welcomed the crowd of about 100 travel writers, Irish ExPats and VIPs, and the crew of the Derry-Londonderry Clipper, then introduced Roy Devine, Commissioner of the Derry Port. Mr. Devine introduced Jackie O'Halloran, Ireland's Deputy Consul General, who gave remarks on the New York perspective. She introduced Geraldine Hughes, who gave an Artist's perspective, then Derry's own Damian McGinty, who enthused about Derry before launching into a moving performance of "Home."

Roy Devine, said at the packed cocktail party in the Atrio restaurant at the Conrad: "We hope this visit helps renew connections and put a visit to Derry~Londonderry during 2013 as a confirmed date in their diary," he said. "Great plans and significant investments have been made to ensure a warm welcome for the Clipper team. We look forward to their return which will be marked by a great celebration in the city, it's sure to be a memorable occasion!".

Guests received gift bags containing more information about travel to Ireland, as well as lapel pins and a branded tumbler, perfect for an afternoon sail.
